Overall purpose of the job:
- To safely operate the ambulance unit and assist medical personnel in delivering effective pre-hospital emergency care to patients
Key Responsibilities
- Safely drive and operate the ambulance during emergency responses and patient transfers
- Assist the paramedic in providing pre-hospital patient care and clinical support
- Perform routine vehicle checks, maintenance and ensure overall roadworthiness
- Maintain complete inventory records of vehicle spare parts and emergency equipment
- Inspect and ensure all onboard communication systems remain operational
- Maintain accurate logbooks, maintenance records and vehicle-related expense receipts
Qualifications, Experience & Core Competencies
- Certificate in EMT-Basic or EMT-Intermediate
- Valid practicing license from the Kenya Council of Emergency Medical Technicians (KCEMT)
- Valid Class BCE driving license
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience as an emergency ambulance operator
- Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
- High attention to detail and situational awareness
