Role Objective
- Our client, a premium 4-star hotel, is seeking an experienced and people-focused Assistant HR Manager to support the effective delivery of its human resources function. The role will focus on strengthening employee relations, supporting talent management and development, ensuring compliance with labour requirements, and providing practical HR support to drive smooth hotel operations.
Core Duties and Responsibilities
- Support in managing the complete employee lifecycle, from recruitment and selection through onboarding, development, and retention.
- Handle day-to-day employee relations, including performance concerns, grievances, disciplinary matters, and workplace issues.
- Coordinate performance management processes and ensure employees and managers follow established procedures.
- Ensure HR practices remain aligned with applicable Kenyan labour legislation, statutory requirements, and internal company policies.
- Coordinate employee welfare activities and contribute to a positive and productive workplace environment.
- Review and submit accurate payroll-related information, including attendance, leave, overtime, and other employee changes.
- Maintain confidential and up-to-date personnel records, contracts, and HR documentation.
- Provide HR guidance and practical support to department managers on employee-related matters.
- Assist management with workforce planning, staffing requirements, and people-related decision-making.
- Support the implementation of HR initiatives, policies, and best practices across the hospitality operation.
- Perform any other HR-related duties as may be assigned by management.
Job Specifications and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a supervisory or senior HR role, preferably within the hospitality sector.
- Practical understanding of Kenyan employment and labour regulations.
