We are looking for a Junior Accountant – Tax & Compliance to join our Finance team in Nairobi.
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 3 years of accounting experience with strong practical knowledge of Kenyan taxation, KRA compliance and day-to-day accounting operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage daily bookkeeping and accounting transactions.
- Maintain accounts payable and accounts receivable records.
- Perform bank, supplier and customer reconciliations.
- Prepare and maintain general ledger records.
- Support monthly and year-end closing activities.
- Handle PAYE, VAT and Withholding Tax compliance activities.
- Prepare and support submission of tax returns.
- Maintain accurate KRA and tax documentation.
- Monitor tax filing and payment deadlines.
- Assist with KRA queries, reviews and audits.
- Support inventory and financial reconciliations.
- Prepare supporting schedules and documentation for audits.
- Maintain accurate and organized financial records.
- Support the Finance Manager/Senior Accountant as required.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree/Diploma in Accounting, Finance or related field.
- Minimum 3 years of relevant accounting experience.
- Strong practical knowledge of Kenyan taxation and KRA requirements.
- Experience handling PAYE, VAT and Withholding Tax.
- Familiarity with iTax and eTIMS.
- CPA (K) or ongoing CPA studies is an advantage.
- Good knowledge of MS Excel/Google Sheets.
- Experience with accounting software such as Sage, QuickBooks, Xero or ERP systems.
- Strong reconciliation and numerical skills.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to meet tax and accounting deadlines.
- Manufacturing industry experience is an added advantage.
