System Administrator - Infrastructure

Role Purpose:

• To administer, maintain, secure and optimize the organization’s IT infrastructure, including servers, operating systems, storage, virtualization platforms, backups, disaster recovery systems and related infrastructure services, ensuring high availability, reliability, performance and security of technology services that support business operations.
• The role is responsible for proactive monitoring, incident resolution, system maintenance, backup and recovery, patching, capacity management and infrastructure improvements, while ensuring compliance with ICT policies, security standards and business continuity requirements.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Infrastructure and Systems Administration

• Maintain reliable operation of servers, storage, operating systems and core infrastructure.
• Perform configuration, patching, upgrades and capacity management.
• Monitor infrastructure performance and availability.

Backup, Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity

• Ensure successful backups and restoration testing.
• Monitor DR replication and participate in failover/DR tests.
• Maintain recovery procedures and ensure agreed RPO/RTO requirements are met.

Infrastructure Security

• Implement and maintain server security controls and hardening standards.
• Ensure timely application of security patches and updates.
• Manage privileged/system accounts in accordance with access-control requirements.
• Support vulnerability remediation, audits and security reviews.

User and Access Administration

• Manage user accounts, system access, roles and privileges in accordance with approved procedures.
• Ensure timely provisioning, modification and revocation of access and support periodic access reviews.

Service Support and Incident Management

• Resolve infrastructure incidents within agreed SLAs.
• Perform root-cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
• Provide technical support to users and other ICT teams and minimize recurring incidents.

Change and Configuration Management

• Ensure infrastructure changes are properly assessed, authorized, tested, implemented and documented.
• Maintain accurate configuration records and minimize incidents arising from unauthorized or unsuccessful changes.
• Coordinate infrastructure maintenance and third-party vendors.

Compliance and Policy

• Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, standards, and licensing agreements.
• Enforce ICT policies and procedures to promote responsible use of technology and data privacy.
• Ensure 100% closure of infrastructure related audit citations and recommendations.
• Stay informed about industry trends and best practices to continuously improve ICT services and operations.

People

• Follow up with Team leader to ensure that all the proposed trainings in the CDP materialize on time.
• Ensure that the performance management platform is updated accurately and on time.

**Job Requirements

Minimum Requirements:**

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related field in the IT discipline.
• 2-3 years’ experience in systems/infrastructure administration role
• Hands-on experience administering Linux/UNIX servers, including installation, configuration, patching and troubleshooting.
• Working knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, firewalls and basic network troubleshooting.
• Experience with virtual environments, server storage, backup solutions and storage management.
• Practical experience with backup monitoring, restoration, replication and disaster recovery procedures.
• Understanding of system hardening, access controls, patch management, antivirus/EDR and security best practices.
• Knowledge of ITIL/ITSM principles, incident, problem and change management.
• SAP administration and/or database administration would be an added advantage.
