Job description & requirements
Duties at this level will include: Teaching and evaluating students; Preparing schemes of work, lesson notes and lesson plans; Assessing students in clinical areas; Guiding and counselling students on matters related to their academics; Supporting the design and development of instruments to assess health training needs; Developing guidelines for the evaluation of health teaching materials; Evaluating training programmes to determine their effectiveness and relevance; Implementing competence-based curriculum; Planning and organising continuing education programmes for health workers; and Conducting research in the area of specialisation and supervising students on research projects.
For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have:
- Bachelor’s degree in Optometry;
OR
- KMTC Higher Diploma in Optometry (Contact Lenses) or KMTC Higher Diploma in Optometry (Low Vision) and practiced in their relevant field for a minimum period of six (6) years;
- Been registered with the relevant professional body where applicable;
- Valid practicing licence; and
- Proficiency in Computer Applications.
