Job Requirements
- Have a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) Degree from a recognized University;
- Have a Post-graduate Diploma in Law from Kenya School of Law;
- Be a member of the Law Society of Kenya and in good standing;
- Have a valid practicing license;
- Have knowledge and work experience of not less than ten (10) years;
- Have at least five (5) years’ experience as an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya;
- Be knowledgeable in records of relevant laws and professional standards;
- Satisfy the requirements of chapter six of the Constitution of Kenya.
Job Description
Duties and Responsibilities
- Principal legal adviser in the County Government;
- Attend the meetings of the County Executive Committee as an ex-officio member of the executive committee;
- On instruction of the County Government, represent the County Executive
- in court or any legal proceeding to which the County Executive is a party other than criminal proceedings;
- Advise departments in the County Executive on legislative and other legal matters;
- Negotiate, draft, vet and interpret documents and agreements for and on behalf of County Executive and its agencies;
- Responsible for the revision of County Laws;
- Liaise with the office of Attorney General when need arises;
- Perform any other function as may be necessary for the effective discharge of the duties and the exercise of the powers of the County Attorney.
